Accident Reports in Emmet County

Emmet County has a specific process for accident reports that differs from other record types. You have three ways to get an accident report from the sheriff's office. First, go in person to the Road Patrol building at 3460 M-119, Harbor Springs. The fee is $2. Second, mail $2 (cash or check) with a self-addressed stamped envelope to the Road Patrol building. Third, for accidents that were filed through the state system, purchase the report through the Michigan Traffic Crash Purchasing System.

There is one important exception. If an accident occurred on private property and damage was under $1,000, the report was not filed through the state system. For those crashes, you must request the report directly from the Sheriff's Office rather than using the state purchasing system. For recent accidents, those within 30 days of the incident, you will also need to submit an Accident Report Request form along with a copy of your driver's license.
